Martini Bar: Azamara Journey Describing themselves as "jaded travelers," Peg and John Haskins were wowed. Peg noted: "Journey was great, the ship was in top shape, the service was superb. The captain, from Isle of Man, was young, charming, and approachable--important for a small ship in this end of the market."

As a sample of the superior service (and there were many), she points to the martini bar. "The bartender knew us almost immediately by name," she says. "Not only that, but we quite often went to the martini bar before dinner just to drink red wine. I like very big wine glasses; somehow he figured out we like the large goblets. They didn't have those in the martini bar, but he got them from the specialty restaurant upstairs, and he kept those two big goblets in the bar area for us every night with our bottle of wine. Now to me, that's really the kind of service that impresses people."

And then there was the dining itself. "Food was good in the main dining room, and John said the steak he had in PrimeSea was the best he's ever had," reports Peg. "One of the alternative dinings is included in your cruise fare--a great idea. One night while we dined in the main dining room, someone came and helpfully asked if they could help make reservations for the PrimeSea."

The Haskins also received help for seeing things on land. "In Buenos Aires, for example, a representative from the local tourist bureau comes on board for at least a half a day with maps and advice on anything you wanted to ask," she notes. "We learned it's a great walking city; all you need is a map and a guide book."

Azamara ships are smaller more intimate ships.  This allows them to sail to ports that others simply cannot reach.
